What does a professional organizer do?
A professional organizer provides services, information, assistance
and resources to individuals who wish to take control of their
time, their surroundings and their life. They guide clients
through the de-cluttering process and help them create order. The basic principles of organization
are applied to each individual's circumstances and needs.
Why should I hire a professional organizer?
A professional organizer will teach you the skills needed to
solve what may have been a lifetime of disorganization. Using
established organizing principles, a professional organizer
will help you design systems and procedures that will work for
you. The organizing solutions are tailored to meet your unique
organizing needs.
How long does it take to get organized?
It depends largely on the client's present level of organization
skills and how involved the client is in the process. If the
client is willing to be an active participant in the organizing
process, the task will be completed in less time and with less
cost.
I have read books on organization, but I have not
been able to get organized. How will working with an organizer
be different?
Organize by Design will not only give you theories about organizing,
but will actually teach you how to put those theories to practice.
You learn how to apply the basic principles of organization. If one solution does not work
for you, I am there to help find one that will work. It is my
desire to see you become successful at being organized. I don't
just tell you how it should be done; I teach you how to do
it.
What are the benefits of being organized?
The benefits of being organized are many. You will be more productive
and less stressed as you take control of your environment. You
will make better use of your time, save money and have a more balanced
lifestyle. Your personal safety and security will be increased,
your self-esteem will be given a boost, and you will experience a
real feeling of freedom.
Will you make me get rid of all my stuff?
No, you will not have to get rid of all your stuff. I ask questions
and direct you in making decisions about what you need to keep
and what you can discard. I will make observations about you
current lifestyle and suggestions as to how you might function
without certain things. But you, as the client, are the final
decision maker.
Do you do the work or do I?
I usually work one-on-one with my clients. The client needs
to give input on which items can be discarded and where the
remaining items are to be located in the home or office. Working
together also gives me an opportunity to teach the organization
skills needed to maintain order.
Can you help me locate a place to donate or sell the
items I no longer want?
Yes, I can suggest organizations that are in need of various
items you might wish to donate. I can also suggest organizations
or services that will pick up usable items for a tax-deductible
donation.
Once the organization project is complete, can you
provide a maintenance program?
I want my clients to be successful at maintaining order in every
aspect of their lives; therefore, I am delighted to work with
you periodically to maintain the initial organization systems
that have been put into place.
